ABSTRACT:

All questions regarding human consciousness and the relationship of the psyche to the construction of the cosmos revolves around an in-depth investigation of the word CONSCIOUSNESS. By defining the term, we find that its components are complex and multidetermined. This text suggests that such properties as awareness, purposeful action, organization, design, and even decision making are inherent not only in our minds, but also within the structure of matter. The difference is quantitative as well as qualitative, with threshold barriers separating different realms. Consciousness as an attribute of the cosmos lies on a continuum. It's components are also present from the start. The lawful nature of the universe is a self-evident proof of this hypothesis.

Human consciousness, according to the theory, is hierarchically determined. At the lower end is mechanical behavior. At the higher end is increased intentionality and cognitive interaction with the subconscious strata of primordial mind. With the realization that consciousness permeates matter, theories on evolution, cosmology and mind/brain interactions are seen in a new light.
